SERVICES UNDER PSYCHIATRY DEPARTMENT
Undergraduate Medical Education:
The Department of Psychiatry is involved in teaching M.B.B.S. students – both through didactic lectures and clinical postings.
Library: The library provides study material on mental health and psychological aspects and access to both national and international journals. It also has a number of books on mental illness, psychological counselling and psychotherapy to support and cater to the study needs of faculty members, doctors, researchers, students and staff in their research, teaching and training activities. The library has internet access to vast journals, online educational sites and e-books for exploring in-depth knowledge in the field of psychiatry.

Outpatient Department (OPD)
Timing: 9:00am to 4:00pm
Patients with mental health problems (anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, etc.) are being treated by our qualified consultant. Facilities are available for psychological tests. (e.g., Rorschach test, TAT, Bhatia battery, IPDE, 16 PF, etc.), rating scale (e.g., HDRS, MMSE, BPRS, YMRS, AUDIT, YBOCS, PANNS), counselling and psychotherapy.

The Psychiatry Department also conducts Alcoholics Anonymous meetings once a week on Friday along with public information meetings once every few months. Recently, the department has also started a community psychiatry clinic once in a week at Satrikh, Barabanki

Department of Physiology
The Department of Physiology started in the year 2009. Physiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the study of functions of the human body and the regulation of different systems. The goal of teaching medical physiology undergraduate students is to provide a comprehensive knowledge of the integrated functions of the organ systems, which in turn helps understanding the basis of health and disease. It is a one-year course and forms a part of one of the basic sciences for MBBS. Teaching is conducted at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, maintaining high standards.
This department consists of experienced faculties with medical degrees equivalent to doctoral / postgraduate qualifications and immense passion for teaching and research activities.
Research
Projects
The postgraduate course in physiology was established in 2014. Some of the postgraduate projects which are going on at present are:
- Inter-arm blood pressure difference and its relation with family history of hypertension in young adults.
- Pulmonary function test in sugarcane factory workers of Barabanki District.
- Study of cardio-respiratory and biochemical parameters in obese young adults.
Facilities
The Department of Physiology of this college is located on the first floor of the college building and has an excellent infrastructure to aid teaching and research activities. Laboratories are equipped with basic equipment for routine experiments that help to couple with classroom teaching effectively with practical learning as well as equipment for postgraduate teaching and research activities. The department has a demonstration room for small group discussions, which is equipped with audiovisual facilities. Besides, there is a museum with various mammalian and amphibian equipments displayed beautifully.
Haematology Lab: All the routine blood parameters such as HB%, TLC, DLC, TRBC, Arneth count, BT, CT, and blood indices are demonstrated and taught by faculty members. The haematology lab is well equipped with binocular microscopes. Amphibian Lab: all the frog experiments are demonstrated with the help of suitable graphs.
Clinical Lab: In the clinical lab students are inducted with all systemic clinical examinations by our expert faculties in small groups.
Research lab: The department has a well-equipped research lab with a treadmill, computerised PFT analysis, ABG analyser, student physiograph and bicycle ergometer for postgraduate students.
Semen analysis lab: The department has a semen analysis lab for analysis of basic routine parameters of semen.
Miscellaneous
The faculties use various teaching methodologies which are of immense benefit to both medical and paramedical students. The faculties are also successfully involved in diverse research projects and have presented papers at national and international conferences and published papers.

- Acceptance of a poster presentation on the effect of long-term supplementation of active garlic allicin in reducing blood pressure in hypertensive subjects in an international conference Hypertension Seoul, South Korea, is going to be held from the 24th to the 29th of September, 2016, by Dr Manish Verma.
